After Care*:
After Care is available from 4pm to 5pm.
Cost is per week, per child.
Full week ($75) and single days ($15) can also be purchased during drop-off each morning (credit card only). 
If you have 2 campers you wish to purchase after care for, enter the quantity "2" below. 
If you pick up your child after 5 pm, you will be charged $1 per minute. Payment will be collected at the time of pick up (credit card only).
*After Care is only available for those enrolled in the 1st through 6th grade camps

Extra Camper T-shirt:
Cost is for one shirt.
Your shirt(s) will available on Monday morning of camp at check-in. 
The shirt size will match the size requested in your summer camp class registration.
If you wish to order 2 shirts for the same camper, enter the same information for both "Registrant 1" and "Registrant 2".

Reusable Water Bottle:
Cost is for one bottle.
Your bottle will available on Monday morning of camp at check-in. It will be yours to take home and bring back for the rest of your camp week.

Behind-the-Scenes Tour: Scales and Shells

  • Online reservations need to be made at least 24 hours in advance. 
  • For additional days or times please contact the Education Department at 916-808-8441 or by email.
  • This behind-the-scenes tour is for participants ages 5 and older. Children younger than 1 year may join as long as they are secured in a wrap or carrier on an adult. No strollers allowed on the tour.
  • All attendees under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a paid adult. There must be at least one adult per two children. 
  • The capacity for this tour is five participants.
  • This tour is 45 to 60 minutes long.
  • All participants are required to wear closed-toe shoes during your tour.
  • Participants may be asked to wear a mask during the tour. Masks will be provided by your guide.  
  • Tour may be canceled in the case of inclement weather.
  • Eating and drinking (except water) is not allowed during the tour.
  • Animal participation is not guaranteed. Animals have free choice to participate or not participate in any encounter. The animals also have free choice to leave the encounter at anytime.

The registration for this program asks for a YouTube account email. If you do not have a YouTube account set up, please create one before proceeding. This YouTube account will be the only way that you will be able to access the video content.

Behind-the-Scenes Tour: Giraffe and Zebra Journey

The Giraffe and Zebra Journey Tour is ADA-accessible. However, the tour will include some uneven terrain and a large hill. Please contact us with any specific questions and we will be happy to help as we can.

Field Trip or Group Reservation Request

Please choose the date and time you would like to enter the zoo by clicking 'Select other dates:' and 'See other times:'.

NOTE: If the date is greyed out and/or the entry time is not displayed, the date/time is sold out. 

Your reservation request must be submitted a minimum of two weeks before your reservation date.

 

After your submission, you will receive an email confirming your reservation, followed by an acknowledgment email with a headcount form attached and information regarding your check-in process for the day of. Please print and bring that email with you on the day of your visit, as you will use this to record your final head count upon your arrival.

 

Field trip, Title 1 field trip, and group entry times are available between 9 am and 11 am on weekdays.

Field Trips

Field trips are defined as an educational program attached to an organization (i.e.: charter school, college, home school, TK-12 public, preschool, private, schools for homeless, etc.).

2023 Field Trip Rates
Adult admission: $9.00 per person

Student admission: $9.00 per person
Children ages 0-1: Free

Title 1 Field Trips

Title 1 is a federal education program that supports low-income students throughout the nation. Schools that hold a Title 1 status meet the percentage of low-income students needed to qualify for this program. The Title 1 field trip must have must have a minimum of 12 individuals to qualify for the discounted rate and MUST be a verified Title 1 school as of the current year.

*Title 1 statuses will be verified prior to your visit by the Reservation Specialist. If Title 1 status cannot be confirmed, you will be charged the standard field trip rate.

 

Groups

A group is a non-educational organization or group of at least 20 individuals that wishes to visit the zoo. Children under the age of 2 and Sacramento Zoo members who receive free admission do not count toward that minimum number.

Zoomobile Booking Program

This is the payment platform for the Sacramento Zoo's Zoomobile presentations.

  • The Sacramento Zoo will accommodate up to three presentations per day, per location.

  • Eating and drinking (except water) is not allowed during the tour.

  • Participants may be asked to wear a face mask during the tour. A mask will be provided by your guide.

  • Animal participation is not guaranteed. Animals have free choice to participate or not participate in any encounter. The animals also have free choice to leave the encounter at anytime.

Family Overnight

  • Family Overnights are for ages 5 years and older.
  • All attendees under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a paid adult.
  • There must be at least one adult per six children.
  • The Sacramento Zoo adheres to CDPH and Sacramento County Public Health policies in regards to COVID-19 precautions. The most up-to-date COVID-19 policies for Overnight Safaris will be communicated to registered guests prior to your stay.
  • Please eat dinner before you arrive. There is no dinner served, and breakfast is a grab and go light snack. Guests are allowed to bring additional light snacks if needed, but there are no mealtimes set aside and no refrigeration available.
  • The sleeping area is on our Reptile House and Summer Camp lawns. Guests are required to provide their own tents or ground covering and a sleeping bag.
  • A partial refund may be available if you need to cancel, fill out the cancellation form.
  • If your preferred date is full, please add your name to the wait list.

Girl Scout Badge Days

Girl Scout Badge Earning Days Reservation Information:

  • Reservations must be received 7 days prior to the program date.
  • There is a 200 person capacity for this program (including adults).
  • 1 adult per 6 scouts, minimum.

In consideration of being permitted to participate in the Sacramento Zoological Societies program, I agree to assume all risks connected therewith. Cancellation Policy
There are no refunds for cancellations, unless Sacramento Zoo cancels the program. This includes "no shows", rain or shine.

Happy Hour

Get HAPPY at the Sacramento Zoo at one, two, or all three of our 21+ Happy Hour events!

Dance and groove to a fun mix of live music from local favorites (April 18 - Cover Me Badd, May 16 - Jessica Malone Band, June 13 - Fast Times). Get the group together, dance the night away, and enjoy the sights and sounds of the zoo at night. A variety of tasty "pub food” and your choice of drinks including wine, beer, cocktails in a can, and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for separate purchase the night of the event.

Don't miss this unique, adult-only evening at the Sac Zoo (we will be checking IDs at the door - no one under age 21 will be admitted).

Starlight Safari

  • Starlight Safaris are for ages 5 years and older.
  • All attendees under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a paid adult.
  • There must be at least one adult per four children.
  • The Sacramento Zoo adheres to CDPH and Sacramento County Public Health policies in regards to COVID-19 precautions. The most up-to-date Covid policies for Starlight Safaris will be communicated to registered guests prior to your visit.
  • Please eat dinner before you arrive. There is no dinner served, and zoo food service will be closed at that time. Guests are allowed to bring light snacks if needed, but there are no mealtimes set aside and no refrigeration available.

  • A partial refund may be available if you need to cancel, view the cancellation policy

Zoomobile Request Form

Reserving a date in this program does not book your program:

  • Staff will receive your request within three business days and assess whether or not they can accommodate this program.
  • If yes, they will contact the registrant directly with a link to pay for the program. The program is not booked until payment has been received.

ZooMobile program details:

  • We will do up to three back-to-back programs at the same school.
  • We are able to accommodate a maximum number of 35 students per program.
  • The program is offered October through May, Monday - Friday.
  • The ZooMobile visits schools, community centers or libraries that are within an hour’s drive of the zoo; we cannot take the ZooMobile to a private home.
    • If you do not see your zip code during the reservation process, you are out of our driving range and cannot book a ZooMobile.
    • If you feel that your zip code is missing in error and that you are within 55 miles/1 hour's drive from the zoo, please contact the Education Department at the Sacramento Zoo to rectify the issue.

Behind-the-Scenes Tour: Animal Enrichment

  • Online reservations need to be made at least 24 hours in advance.
  • For additional days or times please contact the Education Department at 916-808-8441 or by email. 
  • This behind-the-scenes tour is for participants ages 8 and older.  
  • All attendees under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a paid adult. There must be at least one adult per two children. 
  • This tour is 45-60 minutes long
  • The capacity for this tour is four participants. If you have more than 4 in your party, please call 916-808-8441 to get in contact with a tour specialist who can help accommodate your group.
  • This tour may not be suitable for those with sensory issues. 
  • All participants are required to wear closed-toe shoes during your tour. You will need to dip your shoes in a footbath to enter and exit the Animal Ambassador building. 
  • Participants may be asked to wear a face mask and/or gloves during the tour. They will be provided by your guide.
  • Tour may be canceled in the case of inclement weather.
  • Eating and drinking (except water) is not allowed during the tour.
  • Animal participation is not guaranteed. Animals have free choice to participate or not participate in any encounter. The animals also have fee choice to leave the encounter at anytime.

      • You have been exposed to someone who has been diagnosed with or has symptoms of COVID-19
      • You or someone in your household has traveled internationally in the past 14 days.
    • Masks must be appropriately worn on zoo grounds if needed.

Behind-the-Scenes Tour: Cheetah Chat

  • This behind-the-scenes tour is for participants ages 8 and older. Children younger than 1 year may join as long as they are secured in a wrap or carrier on an adult.
  • All attendees under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a paid adult. There must be at least one adult per one child.
  • This tour is about 45 minutes long.
  • The capacity for this tour is six participants. If you have more than six in your party, please call 916-808-8441 to get in contact with a tour specialist who can help accommodate your group.
  • All participants are required to wear a 3-layered face mask that is provided by the zoo. The mask must be worn properly over your nose and mouth. Gloves will be provided by your tour guide when needed. 
  • All participants are highly encouraged to wear closed-toed shoes during your tour.
  • Eating and drinking (except water) is not allowed during the tour.

The Cheetah Chat Tour is ADA-accessible. However, the tour will include some uneven terrain and a large hill. Please contact us with any specific questions and we will be happy to help as we can.
