-These tickets are not valid for special ticketed events.
-These tickets are for zoo admission admission only and do not include a reserved location inside the zoo to gather.

A minimum of 50 tickets MUST be purchased. Unless a previous agreement was made with the Reservation Specialist, purchasing less than 50 tickets will result to an automatic refund of your order and cancellation of your tickets.

Registration for this program requires a YouTube account email.

If you do not have a YouTube account set up, please create one before proceeding. This YouTube account will be the only way that you will be able to access the video content.

Sac Zoo Academy units include fun and educational videos filmed at the Sacramento Zoo, with Sacramento Zoo animals. The videos and worksheets facilitate your student’s learning, encourage exploration of scientific concepts, and offer space to explain and elaborate on those ideas. All virtual curriculum kits include:

Each science unit study is intended for one family group or one class. Materials are non-transferable and video links will only work for one registered user.

Behind-the-Scenes Tour: Giraffe and Zebra Journey

This tour will give you the opportunity to meet and feed our giraffes and zebras.

Age Restrictions: 

  • for ages 3 and older, 1:2 parent child ratio. 
  • All attendees under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a paid adult. There must be at least one adult per two children.
  • Children younger than 1 year may join as long as they are secured in a wrap or carrier on an adult; however, they will not be able to participate in the tour activities.
  • Strollers are discouraged.

  • Duration: 45 to 60 minutes.
  • Capacity: up to 10 participants. If you group exceeds 10, please call 916-808-8441 to get in contact with a tour specialist who can help accommodate your group. 
  • Arrival time: Please arrive on time, as the tour will begin promptly at 10:45am. Late arrivals may not be able to join the tour. 
  • Animal participation is not guaranteed. Animals have free choice to participate or not participate in any encounter. The animals also have free choice to leave the encounter at any time.
  • Tour may be canceled in the case of inclement weather.

  • Comfortable footwear: Please wear comfortable, closed-toed shoes, as the tour involves a fair amount of walking.

  • Illness: if you are ill, experiencing symptoms of COVID or have been exposed to someone with COVID in the last two weeks, we ask that you reschedule your tour. This is for the safety of our animals.

The Giraffe and Zebra Tour is ADA-accessible. However, the tour will include some uneven terrain and a large hill. Please contact us with any specific questions and we will be happy to help as we can. 

Field Trip or Group Reservation Request

If you are interested in booking a field trip, Title 1 field trip, or group visit outside of the available dates and times, contact the Reservation Specialist to inquire.

 

After your submission, you will receive an email confirming your reservation and an acknowledgment email with a headcount form attached and information regarding your check-in process for the day of. 

Please print and bring that email with you on the day of your visit, as you will use this to record your final head count upon your arrival.

Docent Trip

This payment will reserve your seat on the bus for the Oakland Zoo Docent trip. No refunds after October 1.

All groups/families signing up for Sac Zoo Academy Days must purchase the online curriculum "Habitat Heroes", as a part of the comprehensive study unit within Sac Zoo Academy.

  • To do so, type a quantity of "1" into the "Virtual Materials Only" price type. Only ONE purchase of the virtual materials is needed. Enough materials will be provided in the curriculum kit you receive for all of your students. 

 

Academy Days Student: In the "quantity" section, enter the number of students that will be attending.

 

Student Attendance with Animal Ambassador Meet and Greet: $45 per student

 

  • Students participating will be led on a 45-minute guided tour of the zoo that follows along with the curriculum, and parents will receive a curriculum kit with all of the materials that they need to facilitate zoo learning at home. 

  • Parent/adult chaperones are free during this program. Only enter the number of student participants.

  • Once your payment has been received, you will receive a confirmation email. At that time, your spaces for the event have been officially reserved.

Fall Camp

Fall Camp Cancellation Policy - Refunds are not available for cancellations before the start of the program unless canceled by the Sacramento Zoo, or due to the camper having COVID-like symptoms; a signed doctor’s note or an administered COVID test showing proof of testing would need to be provided.

Behind-the-Scenes Tour: Reptile House

This tour will take you inside the keeper-only area of the Reptile House where you'll learn about caring for amphibians and retiles, handling venomous animals, and using a snake-moving tool. Finish with a meet and greet with a keeper and reptile encounter.

  • Illness: If you are ill, experiencing symptoms of COVID or have been exposed to someone with COVID in the last two weeks, we ask that you reschedule your tour. This is for the safety of our animals.

Behind-the-Scenes Tour: Bird Experience

Meet two ambassador birds, learn how we care for them, and enjoy the opportunity to feed several birds.

Winter Hours: 
The zoo will close early at 3 pm from Nov. 3 through Jan. 30.

The Sacramento Zoo uses Plan-Ahead Pricing, giving you the opportunity to plan a zoo visit that matches your budget and schedule. Ticket prices may increase daily. The price will never be lower for a particular day than is currently listed. Buy early to save!

Behind-the-Scenes Tour: Animal Enrichment

Learn what enrichment is, why it's essential to animal welfare, and explore different types. Help with a training session, create enrichment items for animals, and observe them interact with your creations. 

  • Tuesday, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 1:30pm; Selected Fridays and Saturdays at 2:45pm

Learn fascinating cheetah facts, visit keeper-only areas to see how we care for them, make meatball snacks, and watch the cheetahs being fed and trained.

  • $71 per person non-members
